The Free Library of Philadelphia:
Central Library Expansion and Renovation

Philadelphia's Central Library, located on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in a handsome 1927 building, is being restored, expanded, and updated. LRSLA is designing a landscape that will be aesthetically complementary to the contemporary architecture of the addition and the original Beaux Arts structure. The landscape includes a 1.25-acre park with lawn areas, canopy trees, and a monumental stair that will function as an amphitheater for outdoor performances, readings, and story hours.
