Center City Open Space Plan
Center City is the vibrant heart of Philadelphia and its streetscapes,
parks, plazas, and squares are immensely important to the rich
quality of life in the City. However, like other cities designed
and constructed in the 18th and 19th century, the residual and
publicly managed spaces are often victims of physical and fiscal
decline. The Plan defined patterns of use, determined a comprehensive
structure to encourage the design, management, and funding of open
space and illustrated schematic improvements for key gateways.
