Filbert Street Garage

The Avenue of the Arts Garage is located on a busy street adjacent to Philadelphia's performing arts center. An environment with trees in continuous soil trenches, sidewalk lighting and specialty pavements was designed to enhance the streetscape surrounding the garage. Unit pavers were installed over the trench to form a visually rich texture on the ground plane and allow water to infiltrate into the root zone of the trees.

The Filbert Street Garage is located on a street heavily traveled by pedestrians, motorists, and mass transit adjacent to the historic Reading Terminal Market and Philadelphia's Convention Center. The streetscape creates an appropriately scaled forecourt and approach to the Convention Center's front doors, offers pedestrians a shaded environment in which to walk or wait, and respects the historic Reading Terminal through its use of sympathetic paving materials.
